This code book applies to search by firm name.
Input format: The input file is loaded as CSV in one of three formats:
- CSV UTF-8 (Comma Delimited)
- Comma Separated Values
- MS-DOS Comma Separated
Header: The first row is expected to be a header. The header row must have the following column labels for data to be evaluated: ID, firm, location, PI, date. Patentopia evaluates the header to determine if you are using the optional fields (ID, location, PI, and date). You may simply remove that column if you are not using that field.
The header information is important to prevent problems in two possible configurations in which a comma is used internally in a field:
- You may enter city, state as the location.
- Your firm name may be entered as NewFirm, Inc. and the “, Inc.” will be discarded, as will related entity identifiers (e.g., LLC, Co., etc.).
